From what I remember, "plunderer" falls more along the lines of what Yamato and Himiko did, both before and after they joined up with Ban. It seems to me that Ban didn't really go "official" retriever till he partnered with Ginji and the two of them were handed down the title of Get Backers by the previous unnamed trio that held it. I don't think the distinction is a terribly big plot point though.

A the'nan...that, I have no idea. I looked, but my Google-fu is weak. So my guess is, it's either something like "loose end" but what I suspect is something that's probably more like "special vessel", since Himiko is critical to the plans of Babylon City where the Gate (the one that Ban's grandma sealed shut) is concerned. (She isn't necessarily one of the three main keys that they need to open that door, but she IS a power of great importance to them, which is why Kagami (IMO) has such an interest in her.)

Thanks for the input, you two! I can see what you guys mean about plunderer :3 That was my first instinct but I wasn't sure if there was something that would contradict it later or anything xD I think I'll stick with what Tokyopop started and use "plunderer", or a similar word in that same theiv-y vein
