My plans to go out dancing fell through tonight, and I find myself sitting here, wanting to get out of the house and do something energetic, but totally unable to come up with any solo ideas. When I was in Portland, I could go out by myself, and make my own adventures. I didn't need any companions or escorts (some days, I did have fellow ( Read more... )

I find that there's freedom in newness. Especially newness in a temporary place, I would imagine. Last year I did things by myself all the time in New York. Now I never do. Part of that is that I have more people here to do things with, part of it is that I have less time. But I think that the having more people almost acts as a crutch -- if no one else wants to/is able to do it then it doesn't seem worth doing it. Or something.

check out www.phillydance.com. There are lots of things that it's appropriate to go solo to. All english and contra dances, for example.

Thanks. But it wasn't that kind of dancing;)

Honestly though, the fact that I _could_ go solo doesn't mean that I'll want to. That's more the difficulty that I'm talking about here.
