I spilled half a bag of red lentils onto the floor today. It made a mess but, my, what a beautiful sound! (Still wasn't worth it).

I like my job. I don't mind staying late when a big project is due (this week, for instance). I like my co-workers and the continuity of it all. And, don't get me wrong, I like having a legitimate salary and benefits. But when I turn on the radio or surf the web for news at night... I find myself staring at the US Airways website, flights from here to Detroit Wayne County (DTW), Saturday, September 16th. At first I thought Friday was the right day, but it's not. The weather may be 85F and 92% humidity, but I'm really feeling the Spring/Autumn. The air has that same quality... everything looks just a bit more luminous than usual, and something exciting is on the verge of happening. I can feel it.

As I walked home, I passed some guys playing ball in an abandoned lot in the middle of a city block. They must have hopped the fence to get in there. They looked very happy.

While I don't want to live at home forever, being here and having both of my brothers home has some very excellent things about it. I like the _idea_ of cultures who keep multiple generations living under the same roof and just seperate different houses off within the compound or different sections off within the house.
