The part about you saying that if people really love each other, they will work it out/wait is rather true.
I could see myself being ok with this if something like this happened in real life. Partly because I'm in a situation were I have to wait to be with my loved one. We are both legal, but distance and issues with my family's understanding of bipolar disorder have caused us to be unable to see or be near each other.
It doesn't help that this couple (as well as Berwald and Tino) remind me a lot of my relationship with him and how we act as a couple.

Though, I'm kinda weird like that I suppose.

SO IM SAYING I LIKE THIS AND IM SORRY FOR THE BABBLINGS

Actually, I'm glad that no one is like "this is a horrible situation/so unreal/etc." because I feel like if this was my situation, and I really loved someone, two or three years is nothing to wait in order to be able to with them.

I mean, expanding on my situation a bit more (lol moar babbles) we went from being able to see each other every 3 months to 6 then well... now we don't know when we can see each other, seeing as my family things that he's going to kill/maim/rape me. We don't care how long we will have to wait, as long as we have the other, it's well worth it.

I think the way you handled it, in a mature and sensible way helped.

OMG. This is seriously one of the cutest fics I've ever read. I really loved that progression that Ludwig had from lust to love. I find that concept to be really sweet.
And this pairing isn't even my OTP or anything. :D So I guess this is saying something.
