so this is goodbye?

first megaupload and now all the other filesharing sites are deleting the us ip adresses. yes, there will be ways for us europeans (and the rest of the world that is not us) to watch american tv show, but it will be so much harder and more dangerous, right? I don't know much about this topic, but I'm really scared.

But that basically means goodbye. ( Read more... )

There is always torrent sharing, i don't think they can cut that off. Also lots of ways to whatch tv shows online, new and old ones. Dont't be sad, internet will wind the way to share.) fandoms will most certainly survive.)))

I just wish with all my heart that you're right and that they won't come after other downloading/watching options next :)

Please read THIS. It might make you feel better.

There are always going to be ways to share content. Megaupload's case was, hopefully, unique.

THANK YOU so much for the link. my panic is just reasonable concern right now ;) I'm still scared about how far they're gonna take it. If it gets hard to download us tv shows, a lot less people will do it. which isn't better for the entertainment industry, but worse. god, I feel like I'm holding my breath to see what comes next. (you guys have sopa and pipa, we here in europe have acta. it's also being decided upon in the next few days or so)

Well, I've looked at my fave storing sites and everything's still there, so I'm not going to panic right now. I also do think that the internet/fandom will find a way to share, so I don't think they'll get rid of us that fast. ;)

good god, I hope! but with acta passing, everything we do will be illegal. and the US signed it already...

But the pulled the act. Where did you read that the US signed the act. Yesterday I read that they pulled it.

And honestly, downloading is already illegal. ;)

they pulled sopa (don't know about pipa) but acta is already signed by them. and acta is soooooo much more dangerous. it's all over tumblr right now.

lol, I know, but for us it was still not dangerous to download a song or an episode. with acta, it will be.

I'm still in shock! When the first news dropped in, I thought: that CAN'T be legal, they've gone insane! And I thought that, somehow, everything would be alright again sometime soon. Well... call me naive, but I simply thought nobody has the power to do such a thing AND get away with it ( ... )

thank you for your rant! you know, I feel like the world is changing dramatically right now (yes, I'm super emotional about this, sorry ;P) and so few people really understand it!

this is eaxactly the way I see it. They're cutting us off. in a few years, there won't be much left of the spn fandom outside the US if it really changes the way we're all scared of.

because here in Germany, I can buy season four I guess? maybe season five? that means another two years waiting to see the rest of the episodes! no, I don't even want to think about that

I'm in the same boat as yourself, I'm utterly shocked at megaupload being suddenly taken down!! I just hope it doesn't start a trend among other filesharing sites, I love being part of fandoms and this is awful news for all of us outside the US. :(

yes, it is! if it really happens the way we're scared of, the fandoms will change so much! let's just hope this madness is being stopped in time!
