review: "Twilight" (movie)

Aids and I (and with much, much reluctance on his part) finally watched the Twilight movie via downloaded DVD-ripped avi. My first thought after the whole thing was done was "You know what? I actually LIKED IT."

The good:

OMG I love it!!! Hahahaha. Shouldn't it be the other way around though? I found it fascinating that the movie didn't even attempt to include getting-to-know-you scenes that could explain their attraction. It was all about Bella's scent. Jeebus.

1. A movie has to compress the book's content in order to fit the running time. This is usually the reason why movie adaptations suck, but it was a godsend in this case as most of Twilight The Book is fluff anyway. Short running time = faster moving plot = the lovey-dovey scenes are short and we get to the bad guys faster.

They also cut out most, if not all, of Bella's tiresome narration. Praise Jeebus.

1. Minimal Jacob. I thought he was her friend?

Because the Powers That Be hate Jacob's character, and what to make sure that no question of Bella and Edward ending up together ever come up in the first movie. I can point to you all the discussions of the comparisons between the Bella/Edward/Jacob and Hermione/Ron/Harry relationships for further fun. And by fun, I mean HORROR.

Hey, I resent the BJB and HHrR comparisons. Hermione>>>>>>>>Bella and Harry>>>>>>>>>>Edward :p Plus DanRad>>>>>RPattz. HAHAHAHA :p

While I agree with your statement, I have bad news for you: the way the analogy works it goes:

Bella = Hermione (the heroine!)
Edward = Ron (the twu love!)
Jacob = Harry (the best friend!)

which makes HP sound a lot dumber than it really is. *shudders* I also noticed that most of the HP fans I consider "sane", regardless of where they fall on the H/Hr vs R/Hr shipping, prefer Bella/Jacob. Or death.

I already knew that but in my world, Harry is the twu love :P Hahaha. I don't have a stand regarding Bella/Jacob because I haven't read the books, but anything has got to be better than Bella/Edward.
