Ah, I see. Although I didn't get the joke, I didn't think it was mistranslation...I mean...how can you mistranslate that?

Yeah, exactly. XD I mean, I guess it's possible. I've misread kanji before, leading to embarrassing mistranslations, though I caught most of them before posting, because I do double-check my translations. I just don't appreciate the "This doesn't make any sense to me, so obviously the translator made a mistake. Explain yourself!" attitude that I get from people who don't even speak a lick of Japanese sometimes...

That comment was just incredibly stupid, especially since the person was basing it on their views of Japan's personality and not what the actual Japanese text said. Heck, I could say that Italy was OOC in the early parts of HetaOni and claim that you obviously translated his lines wrong, and it would make just as much sense. People are such idiots.

Ugh, some people. Just because they don't get it, doesn't mean it's translated incorrectly >_> What kills me is that people online that do translation are doing it for free, out of kindness. People who don't know the language should be NICE to those people. Sometimes, I do NOT understand what is wrong with people.

That reminds me of another YT user, a native Japanese speaker, who was kind enough to take the initiative to sub RomaHeta. Her English was far from perfect, but she did her best and I think her translations were perfectly intelligible and, above all, accurate. And yet, you have no idea how many rude comments about her flawed English I've seen around. I'd like to see them try to translate something from English to Japanese! :T

There ought to be some sort of way for translators to take those sorts of accusations seriously and turn them back on the accuser if they're inaccurate! Aka, if you're questioning someone's work, you really should be able to back yourself up and make it clear you know what you're talking about. As it is, it's pretty crappy that accusations can just come out of thin air and it's fully on the translator to defend themselves. ~_~

Exactly! I wouldn't mind if people corrected my translations (in fact, I would be grateful, because I do it all on my own and I want it to be as good as possible), but only if those people actually knew the language well enough and could back it up somehow. Sadly, the vast majority of people who try to correct me have no idea what they're talking about. -_-
