I don't like to plan too far ahead either. I make short-term goals and just focus on meeting those. Being in school requires a lot of focus and I don't want to be always worried about the future. Although, my political science teacher burst my bubble when he told me social science is one of the lowest paying degrees. I enjoyed 500 days of summer too! It was sad though - my husbands final remark about the film was, "Well, what was the point?"
I felt a bit like both of you, but I really agree with Brian. It's sad when things don't work out, but if they're not supposed to, then it just means it IS supposed to with someone really wonderful. And, man, REALLY wonderful is pretty dang fantastic. Worth the wait.
