a million different people

Somedays I feel like it's hard to keep track of myself. I carry wardrobe changes like some kind of celebrity or super hero... yet it's nothing quite so glamorous. I do a little spin in the morning as ask Brian if any of my tattoos are "hanging out." Because sometimes I don't even know anymore ( Read more... )

Your coworkers probably just think you're a junky. JK. Well, they might.

I feel the same way about covering my tattoos. I used to work in an exclusive boarding school and for months, none of the other adults knew I had tattoos but almost all my students did. Since the rest of the faculty rarely came into the library, I would take off my sweaters or jackets or whatever and then the kids would see them and get all excited and tell me their tattoo ideas for the future. Some of the younger teachers would come in and whisper, "I heard you have tattoos," and then show me theirs. One young teacher who didn't have any tattoos made a really good point one day when I said I felt weird taking off my jacket because I didn't know how the other adults would feel about them. She said, "It's irrelevent how they feel; you have them and there's nothing they can do about it."

The funny thing is, I think rather than them thinking I'm like a junkie or a cutter or something... they think I'm sweet and innocent and just like to cover myself up lol. I dress more professional/nicely than any of the other women who work here lol.

But it's a music store! haha... though we mostly cater to an older crowd of orchestra and band musicians. One of the drum teachers comes up to me one day with the "I heard you have tattoos." and proceeds to show me the ones on his upper arms lol. I pulled up my sleeve just a little and I thought he was going to fall over hahaha. Full sleeve ftw! haha. The next day another drum teacher comes up to me "Randy says you have tattoos!!" hahaha

BAHAHAH! I only have a four tattoos, but still people stare when one pops out, whicn is NOT often. you would think they would kind of figure I have one or two by knowing me, but alas, staring.
One girl saw the one on my shoulder blade when I was wearing a white shirt, through said shirt (I don't wear white anymore.) she was like "I SEE A TATTOO!" so I turned and act shocked, "WHERE?!?!" granted it did get a laugh, but still.

I only have one tattoo, in a relatively conspicuous place, and although I rarely have the urge to hide it, I completely understand the feeling of being a different person in varying situations. My direct manager thinks my tattoo is actually pretty cool, while I don't get along with my VP so well. When she comes around, I instinctively check to make sure that my hair is down and covering my neck. We've worked together almost 7 years now; I wonder if she knows... LOL

I work in a musical instrument shop, not a record shop. Though I refer to it as "the music store" lol so I get that confusion a lot.
We cater mostly to orchestras and brass bands and things of that nature. As well as young children in school music programs. I was told my tattoos were a bit too much for our general customers and I know old ladies would just hassle me anyway lol. But other than the lady who hired me, and a few of the cool music teachers, no one really knows about my tattoos lol.

The bar doesn't mind :) I basically do whatever I want there. I'm supposed to wear a shirt with the bar logo but I usually just wear band shirts haha

haha I worked at Guitar Center for yeeeaaars and even though it wasn't a record store, sometimes it was kind of like empire records hahaha. We would start singing and shit and someone stole all the money out of the safe... we used to joke constantly about that lol.

And High Fidelity is my favorite movie of all time. So yeah haha. I always picture working in a record shop to be like that. We do have a small local record shop like that, but I've been trying to work there for like the past 10 years to no avail lol
