you know what really grinds my gears

It makes me feel old, but I really can't stand the current teenage fashion. Mostly because it's starting to leak into people my age. At 25, I shouldn't be saying "GODDAMN KIDS! GET OFF MY LAWN WITH YOUR STUPID SUNGLASSES!" But I am.

I can go to 47 band pages and come up with the same things...

bahahha..

well i agree with most of this. in regards TO the music.

but you posted pics of two bands that i'm really good friends with...haha. whom aren't as ridiculous as half the bands out there these days.

the Red Car Wire boys are actually pretty talented, & some of my bestest even though their music isn't really my style.

Haha for the record, I have no idea who either of the bands are, I just pulled random photos off of myspace.

Like I said, it was hard to make this post without posting photos of my own friends and people from my city haha.

Agreed.
I need to try on a pair of those sunglasses sometime; I'm REAL curious as to how people actually see through them properly. I don't think they do. They must run into things a lot.

It's the new hair band era. I wouldn't say the fashion so much bothers me as the music. I used to get on Purevolume, and even further back in the day, mp3.com .. and look up genres and find all kinds of music that blew my mind. Nowadays, getting on there, you just hear one carbon copy after another. We The Kings, All Time Low, Mayday Parade ... is there a difference? Don't get me wrong, I listen to all 3 bands, but it's not life-changing. Ever. It's been well over a year since an album has inspired me in the slightest.

P.s. I still wear flannel! :-X

Haha I was thinking I wanted to go to the thift store and find a nice cozy flannel haha.

I used to wear my DAD's flannel when I was in high school lol. I weighed 98lbs and he wore an XL haha.

I was pretty rad.

Sometimes I want to crawl back into 1998 and never let go.

Dude, I know. I'm so over irony. No one would wear that stuff if it wasn't trendy. It's sad that you can't even start a band, unless you have the look. My boyfriend has been auditioning to be a drummer for a few bands, and it's sad, because he doesn't have the right look, but he's an amazing drummer. Man. I'm so sick of neon colored shirts talking about dancing, and little girls talking about dancing. They don't dance. If you see someone like them at a show, they barely look like they're enjoying themselves.

My husband is a lead singer/guitarist and he's very talented. He's been doing the band thing for years and he's been told he won't make it because of his weight.
Turns out you have to be skinny and have swoopy hair to ge signed.

He was once told by a manager who wanted to rep his band that he just didn't fit the image for a lead singer and that another guy in the band (who seriously cannot sing) should be the front man. Wtf.

Yep, for sure. It's so dumb. It's like boy band stuff happening. He used to be in a popular local band, and they had all the talent and ambition you need, but they made a few wrong decisions, so getting signed never happened. :( So now, all my boyfriend wants to do is play drums in any band, touring, and he'll be happy. But no one wants him to even be in their band.. so he does session work a lot. People love his drum talent, but don't like his look. It's sad. :(

It's so true! This is like a sick mix of 80s hair bands and 90s boy bands!

I completely agree.
And I'm eighteen.
How you described your teenage self would be how I described me in school.
(I know I'm eighteen, but I graduated at seventeen.)
Now, I describe myself as tired, as I always wear PJs lol.
But I just don't really get the BRIGHT CRAZY MONEY HUNGRY HIP SKANK shit going on with this.
:(
