Guys, I'm sorry, I just have to. I can't. I.

I saw this in my Facebook timeline, posted by an American friend violently opposed to gun control (which is his prerogative but I'm still finding it stupid. This is, however, not the issue of this rant):

Liberals = Hitler, it's all in there!

Oh for frak's sake. Let's find a bogey man and give him a scary name, shall we? I am, for example, utterly amused by the fear most Americans tend to display when socialism is mentioned. "But that's socialism! That's horrible! Taking away human freedoms!" and so on. I freaking lived in socialism and it was better than this shit system we're having now. (post -war, with wounds that still have to heal, with broken economy and corruption and no value system whatsoever. Yes I miss socialism.)

The thing is, it seems that so many people are unable to grasp nuances and het into their heads that some issues are complicated. Much more complex than black and white, stamp - a - name - on - it approach they're taking. Call something you don't like Hitler or Stalin and voila, problem solved? But it's much more complicated than that.

And, you're right, comparing liberals to Hitler is ignorant, ridiculous, rude, cruel and I CAN'T EVEN. It's downright idiotic. Had this person ever read a history book? For crying out loud. *headdesk*
