On this day in history, ten years ago.

I guess 9/11 is my generation's Kennedy assassination. We all knew where we were and what we did when we heard about the attacks. This is the story of where I was and what I did.

Remember, remember, the Eleventh of September. )

I was in high school when it happened, in math class. The teacher mentioned something, but she didn't know much herself, and then the principal came on the PA and told us. But I had no idea how bad it was until I saw the photos and it really shook me.

There is so much I WISH I could say about 9/11 but I just...still don't have words for it. Every year around this time I will literally eat up any new morsel of information they release on that day and the people who did (and did not) survive. The documentaries? I don't know anyone who did know someone in the towers (until recently) and I was thousands of miles away from the epicenter of that entire world shifting event ( ... )

The feeling that we lived safely sheltered away from all the crap that was going on in the rest of the world. The illusion that nothing truely horrible could ever happen to us. (I know it's a stupid feeling in the first place, but I was only 19 at the time ( ... )
