Just outright fraud. An alleged company called Cardiology PC, one block over from Hartford Hospital. I know for a fact that my aunt never went to see them, and I also know that I haven't.
Nevertheless, the bill is in the name of my aunt and is dated 8/29/2011. Neat trick, considering she died eleven years ago. If she were alive, she'd be 87. I suppose the defrauders figured that she wouldn't notice one medical bill more or less.
According to Hartford Hospital, my aunt's bills have all been paid up (the estate and I both took care of that--mostly the estate). And the bills for my emergency room trip were sent to Medicare.
So. Not mine.
I don't blame Hartford Hospital for this; I've already told them this. And I am giving the Cardiology PC group the benefit of the doubt. For all I know, someone has hacked their billing records or appropriated their address.
But I am laying the blame squarely on the people who signed off on this and sent it to me.
