WASN'T IT AMAZING? I kind of cried a lot, and it is very difficult to get me to cry at television. (In fact, it's easiest to get me to cry at kid's movies, which ... says interesting and probably good things about the finale.)
Re: Gallifrey, I assume it is still out of commission, since the universe would've rebooted from moment of explosion, and there's nothing indicating that Amy would have any information from which to rebuild Gallifrey the way she did with her parents, Rory, the Doctor &c.

Yeah, you're probably right.
However, if Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, etc. come back with all of their history intact--which Amy would not know either--then I'm taking that as confirmation that Gallifrey is back too.
I know what you mean about Amy and Rory! I'm so glad that they finally have a solid couple as companions. The last time they tried it, with Rose and Mickey, the two just broke up. It's nice to see two people who are so devoted to each other.

Oh, me too. And I'm equally glad we got to see their relationship growing over the course of a season so that it doesn't feel as if the love is coming from nowhere. It absolutely feels real.
And I love that they didn't consider leaving the Doctor for a single second. I don't see them as a threesome--which probably puts me in the minority in Whodom--but I am glad that love didn't break up the friendship.
The finale was fantastic! Some people were up in arms about the Dalek asking for mercy, but I thought it was set up absolutely correctly - the Dalek was using psychological tactics. I loved little Amelia and big Amy, and the shooting of the fez, and the time travel...wonderful!
I think it was completely set up correctly, especially since the Dalek:
a) kept drawing closer to River--NOT the action of a creature too terrified to fight back;
b) kept positioning its eyestalk and its firing gun as it talked to River.
This was not a frightened Dalek. This was a Dalek playing for time.

Oh, YES. And the Doctor's explanation of why death was incidental when reality itself was shutting down. And the Vortex Manipulator that the Doctor got from Jack Harkness! Someone found a use for it!
When the Doctor's telling Amelia that bedtime story, it felt like such an iconic moment, because he *did* steal the TARDIS, and he *did* run away from home, and that's what started it all, really.
Yes, he did! He stole an old Type 40 TARDIS that was in for repairs. And him telling wee Amelia the story was sort of sweet and sort of sad at the same time. I could see him telling that kind of story to his granddaughter Susan. Or to Susan's children.
This season is worth watching. EVERYTHING ties together at the end, even the weaker episodes, and there is CONTINUITY, and the companions are utterly wonderful and don't get dumped in another universe with a consolation prize or get their memories wiped--in fact, their memories become incredibly important.
And honestly, Rory and Amy are both the anti-Donna--two redheaded companions who are made of win and not robbed of who they are at all. They are Steven Moffat saying to RTD, "Look, THIS is how you do it."
Also, I'm pretty sure that one of those redheads getting to punch the Doctor in the jaw during the finale for being an insensitive idiot was in lieu of Donna doing it. (The Doctor was being insensitive to get a reaction, but he was visibly astonished--and delighted--with the one he got. And yes, this all makes sense in context.)
