*hugs back* No, not really. Can I fire the year 2009? I think that I should be allowed a do-over...

I'm taking the stance that if it starts out crap, it can only get better....

Lodge an official complaint with DAR, if you haven't already.

I'm sorry, Tracey. Can you contact your previous physician to send the wound center a waiver of some kind?

They claim it's an official policy. Since the driveway happens to be to my house and is on my property, I don't think that DAR would be liable even if I did fall and hurt myself, but I think that would be their explanation for the van driving past. They never admit to doing anything wrong.

I'm not sure filing a complaint would do any good. I can't switch to another company if this one doesn't work. The various cities and towns of Connecticut are divvied up among the companies that transport the disabled in much the way that different franchises of ice cream trucks own different regions. DAR services my hometown, Hartford and a few surrounding areas. It's a monopoly. If they fuck up--and they do so constantly--I can't just slam out the door and find a better company. My options are them or nothing. Which is frustrating, because DAR frequently sucks.

I'll see if I can get the previous doctor to send the Wound Center something, however. I don't know if she can do anything, but I'm going to see.

So, if people who aren't mobile can't clear their drives they can't have lifts?

Wow. I didn't think that kind of logic still existed.

That's about the size of it, yeah.

If you want to see some prime examples of that kind of logic, you should visit dot_gimp_snark.

Sounds like it's time for a call to the ACLU. Don't these sapwits realize that - duh! - someone who needs their services probably CAN'T clear their own sidewalk?

Arrrgh...

Wait, Dial-A-Ride is for people who have some difficulty getting around...but those same people are supposed to clear their own sidewalks. I can think of words for that level of logic fail, but they aren't polite.

I'm sorry you're surrounded by so much stupid. :(
