Question:

As I said in an earlier post, I'm going to Melbourne next week to see a friend. I've realised that while I'm down there I'm going to have full access to his University servers which are chock-a-block full of tellie, films and music files. I have hundreds of gigabytes still free on my new ext. harddrive and wish to fill them with some quality ( Read more... )

Me too. I've actually just seen the DVDs for Fry & Laurie though, so I think I may just go ahead and buy them.

Thank you so much for the explanation! I really think that I'm gonna go for Stargate Atlantis, particularly after your NCIS comparison, but do I need to watch Stargate SG-1 first to understand the former?

Stargate Atlantis is a spin-off of SG-1, which is basically about this group of people who travel throughout our galaxy via stable wormholes. SGA, which just finished it's fourth series, leaves the Milky-Way galaxy to take place in the Pegasus Galaxy as a scientific expedition in the city of Atlantis. Once there, they wake up a seemingly insurmountable foe called the Wraith, who feed on humans by sucking out their life force (Space Vampires!). The expedition is cut off from Earth, so they are pretty much on their own. The series focuses on their search for allies against the Wraith, trading partners, and ZPMs (their energy suppliers).

It's my most recent crack and I'd totally recommend downloading it. It's not the greatest, most well-written show in the world, but if you're looking for a decent plot that isn't too hard to follow, somewhat-pretty people snarking at each other, and space vampires then this is where you should turn.

Oh, and you should watch it because no one on my friend's list does. Help a girl out. <3

(You definitely need to check out the first four seasons of the X-Files also. Possibly the greatest stuff on TV ever? I think so. You've gotta be prepared for the second movie coming out!)

Yes, Stargate: Atlantis seems to be pretty appealing at the moment. And you can never have too many somewhat-pretty people to look at.

Yes, I think I've decided I should definitely get the X-Files eps. I don't know why I was so stupid as to think I shouldn't bother.

Here's a super helpful intro to the worlds of Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis. With pictures! :)

ETA: It is a two part pimp post, with the second half comparing SG-1 to the first-born responsible son and SGA to the spoiled younger daughter.

Okay, Battlestar Galactica's going down on my list. Sounds like good drama with fights in space.

Scrubs & Robin Hood - I've just checked with my friend and he's already got the eps so I'm just going to get them off him. I just think I'm going to have to buy some more hard drive space *guh*.

And Fry & Laurie are indeed brilliant. So much love. And thank you for the links. I hadn't seen two!
