As I said in an earlier post, I'm going to Melbourne next week to see a friend. I've realised that while I'm down there I'm going to have full access to his University servers which are chock-a-block full of tellie, films and music files. I have hundreds of gigabytes still free on my new ext. harddrive and wish to fill them with some quality ( Read more... )

Okay, I picked BSG, Scrubs, Robin Hood, ABoFaL

BSG --> I'm not a sci-fi fan, but from the list of tv shows you posted, I assume that you are. EVERY single one of my friends who is a sci-fi fan absolutely adores this show.

I've seen season 1 (and the mini-series) and I will say, for someone who hates sci-fi, I liked it a lot. I'm a poli-sci major, and there was so much political commentary in this so that even though it's set in the future, it stayed VERY relevant to today.

Scrubs --> the last few seasons do mess up quite a lot, and they're nowhere near as good as the first few, but I love this show! Few other comedies have made me laugh and cry in the same episode. And I think they deal with some pretty heavy issues for a half-hour comedy. Also, I started watching from the beginning, and I've kind of fallen in love with characters.

Robin Hood --> SEASON ONE IS AMAZING. It's so... strange. It's cheesy, and certain scenes are ridiculous (there's one where he's galloping through a forest with a newborn baby in his arms, while slinging arrows and fighting off bad guys! C'mon!) But, it fully accepts it's silliness and never tries to pretend to be anything more. The characters are all well thought out and you fall in love with them pretty quickly (even Guy).

The second season wasn't as good, in my opinion. They moved away from the "Robin Hood" story and introduced a lot of romance into it. And the ending was... well... infuriating. But season 1 is worth watching!! And if you loved season 1, there's no way you can avoid watching season 2. And at the end of the day, I will tune into season 3.

Fry and Laurie is just comedic genius.

Example one
Example two -- so awesome
Example three

Jeeves and Wooster is another great show with Fry and Laurie.

Okay, Battlestar Galactica's going down on my list. Sounds like good drama with fights in space.

Scrubs & Robin Hood - I've just checked with my friend and he's already got the eps so I'm just going to get them off him. I just think I'm going to have to buy some more hard drive space *guh*.

And Fry & Laurie are indeed brilliant. So much love. And thank you for the links. I hadn't seen two!
