I love it, love that you're writing J/E again (and that your muse seems to be visiting more often again). And I especially love this
a heady mix of revenge and (God help him) blessing
because it's so *right*.

*points upwards* I'm with ladymora, that made me laugh :-) And I also loved this: Like some callow and helplessly priapic boy. He'd known what she was. But then she knew him as well.. Great work, as always!

Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed this, the humor as well as the angst. (Love that icon of yours, btw. It's a wonderful pic of them together.)

Fantastic companion piece to "Encomium" ... the other side of the coin, as it were.

Comparing the two POV's of these pieces, it's funny that each of them feels that, in a way, they've surrendered, ceded control to the other. (You know what they say: this thing's bigger than the both of them! I guess, in their case, it's true!) ;-) Also, the shared perception by both that this "encounter" carries an element of Jack exacting his revenge on Elizabeth for her past misdeeds.

The glint of sleepy eyes; a rueful smile to match his own.

Oh, yes ... she knows she's caught as well! :-)

He strips again, and comes to her, and disgust suddenly seems sacrilege. The word's treasure, pure and simple, silver and gold.

He'd known it all along.Oh, yes, he has known, hasn't he? He said as much to Will, all those years ago in the treasure caves of Isla de Muerta! Known who--and what--she was, from practically their very first meeting. Known her better, perhaps, than her own doting father, or starry-eyed, lovestruck Will ( ... )
