Christmas Fic: 'O Tannenbaum' (Pintel & Ragetti, etc.)

I love writing -- and reading -- Christmas stories! This one is set a year after Home for the Holidays, a story I wrote for erinya, formatted as a series of drabbles that were set in my post-AWE Shipwreck Cove universe (which was originally borrowed from inspired by artaxastra's fabulous Outlaws and Inlaws series). One of said drabbles featured Pintel and Ragetti ( Read more... )

This one is twice sweet--I love Christmas trees and I love memorial trees as well. There's one in Mobile that still belongs to my Mama and Daddy, though it's been years since I've seen it. Pintel and Ragetti are two of the oddest of the groups who inhabit the pirate world and I love them too, cos they are nothing if not willin'.

That's a good point about Pintel and Ragetti. They are very willing, though maybe a little too persuadable? I'm so glad you liked this -- and it's fun to think about your parents' tree. What sweet memories. Thank you for commenting!

That was lovely. I liked the mixture of humour and Teague's bit of sentimentality. :)

He is sentimental. And dangerously crazy. *g* Thank you for reading and commenting -- I'm so happy you enjoyed it!

Aw. You made me smiley and sad at the same time.

Guessed straight away that Jack had hidden his own weapons, but not that he'd pinched Teague's pistol too--classic Jack!

Jack has those light fingers. And he knows his father all too well. Thank you so much for reading and commenting!

> Teague's face was a picture as he studied the tree, like storm and shadows warring with a determined sun. <

That line is great, even by your standards.

And the fic is, too! It reminded me a bit of 'Charlie Brown Christmas', what with those well-meaning naifs struggling to provide a decent tree... until the revelation about the initials turned it into something else! Wonderful twist, wonderful resolution, and just enough forgiveness to give the whole thing a proper Christmasy glow.

Well, well done!

Thank you! I was thinking of the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree when I was writing it, actually, though being a piratical tree by P&R it had to be overloaded with decorations. I'm so glad you sensed the glow, so essential in a Christmas story!
