Topher didn't make a backup of himself as he was leaving. It was the same 2nd topher they had put in Victor before. If he'd made a backup right before, he would've known the blood on the monitor was Bennett's and not his.

I didn't mean he made the imprint just then! I would think loading up the chair with the old imprint (and then writing a note saying "press me!") would still look obvious to Boyd and take a few minutes.
