Catching up - sculpture, pics, writing

The last few months of 2010 whipped by in a ridiculous frenzy. I've still not gotten it into my head that NaNoWriMo ownz mie sole during November, and that if I have unfinished business on October 31st, it's almost guaranteed that biz will still be around and unfinished come December 1st. December, thusly, ended up being a *wee bit* hectic. ( more )

Thanks, Tiffany! Man, I've been dying to have some results to post for months! Even though *I* knew I was doing the work, it felt like I wasn't to the rest of the world, 'cause, you know, no posts!

I have another I hope to put up shortly. I need to check back in on yours. Been busy with cakes? I suspect the holidays about did you in!

Oh I was ridiculously busy. Didn't make many cakes, but I was certainly kept busy with other things. I did get my airbrush system for Christmas though and I'll be doing my very first airbrushed cake next week! Stoked for it!

Airbrush! Loved those things when I was in high school. I shot a friend's German WWII plane with one and he won a prize at a contest with it. I never had a compressor for it, though, and canned air was darn expensive. I didn't stick with it. I still like the look. I'd do T-shirt designs with them now if I had one.

Can't wait to see how it turns out on your cakes!

very awesome! I'm glad to see you're still doing creative things with your spare time- those marble sculptures you make are really neat.
You know...you're into welding, it'd be so sweet to make a bronze encased tiny motor system in the center of one so the marbles would automatically reload themselves XD ooh, you could wrap it with wire or solder neat decorations on it like the drawings you do :O haha, I would have to get one for my desk at work and watch it all day :B

That thought has been in my head for quite some time! I already have at least one motor sitting around, probably more than that if I look. I have a kickass selection of gears, too, although, oddly, they don't quite seem to be the ones I need at particular times. Argh!

It's quite a job to set up something like that, the lift system. I have started on one that uses a brass ladder chain. Getting it finished is going to take a good bit of doing.

well, if you were just going to cover it with decorative metal you wouldn't have to use something pretty like a brass chain - i'm sure it is pretty involved. I was helping my sister devise a similar system for moving/sorting colored balls. (she had to build a machine that would shoot light through marbles to recognize their color, and then sort accordingly)
It would be worth the effort though i'm sure! :) just another thing on your list of creative stuff to do, haha XD

Okay, draw the thing that's in your head so I can see what it looks like and post it! The thing in my head is different than the thing in your head, and yours is sounding awesome. I want to see your "artist's rendering."

Congrats on NaNo and being able to get creative stuff done during December! Alas, work kicked my butt last month, but I'm thinking that this new year is going to be Creative Year for all of us with a mind on the imagination.

Thanks, homey. I am so not turning the wick down this year. It's going to be full of awesome. I learned a lot from the sculpture work I did last year, and that should help me produce more and better work this year. I may get more customers as well as long as I can keep up with production.

I'm also determined to keep writing and getting more stuff published, and with one published work and another accepted and pending publication, things look decent for that goal this year as well.

There's more, but I could make a whole entry about it...so I think I shall! Congrats again to you too on NaNo! Looking forward to seeing what the new year brings for you!

You're on a roll and it sounds like you've got the momentum to keep it going. I'm hoping for a productive year. I've got writing that I will be doing and I plan to look in to going back to school, so hopefully 2011 will be our year for great things. I don't know much about sculpture, so all I can say about your work is that it looks really pretty :)

"all I can say about your work is that it looks really pretty :)"

That's all you have to say! I've done my job well, then. Thanks!

I told you you did a lot! Looks pretty good when you put it all together, doesn't it?

...I'm not sure what a disco yacht is, but I'll take it. ;-)

A disco yacht is awesome. Everyone wants one. I'm surprised you haven't heard of them. I used to have two or three myself! Ah, the 70s!
