That video was more incredibly disgusting than I could have imagined food to be. Seeing them all wriggling on the plate was horrible. That was more disgusting than this show I once saw with people eating lots of bugs. At least the bugs were dead. That, I think is the only thing that could top squirming octopus tentacles, live bugs. Ewwwwwwww. The noise he made when he first put it in his mouth was rather amusing though.

Are supposedly quite tasty (they make Cicada ice cream.) I'm sure that if the bug was tasty and harmless, it could be quite pleasant. http://www.gracecentered.com/calling_of_cicadas.htm Quote: Even humans eat cicadas which are described as soft and mushy with a taste like cold, canned asparagus.
Apparently people generally do not eat live bugs, but rather ones that have been cooked in various ways, but they do represent a significant food item around the world. They seem to be eaten cooked more often than raw, but I'm pretty sure that most native cultures will eat a number of the local species either as staples, or as convenient snacks.

I once watched a program on the food channel that was entirely about people eating bugs. Chocolate covered ants and grasshoppers, or the picture that sticks most in my mind, a carmel apple dipped in mealworms. Thankfully all were already dead when eaten, and I think they were all cooked as well. Pizza topping, in lollipops, all kinds of ways people ate bugs.
