Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 ~~~***~~~
“Reirei, wake up!“
Reita grunted, turning around and onto his stomach. That was cruel. That was really, really cruel. Not even his own dreams would leave him alone! This wasn’t Uruha’s voice he was hearing, he convinced himself. It was just a cruel joke. What would Dr Freud say about this?
“REIREI!“
“WHAT?!“
“WAKE UP!“
Reita sat up abruptly. For a dream Uruha’s voice sure was loud and cranky ... he looked up and -
“URUHA!“
“Yes, now come on.“
Reita let his best friend pull him out of the bed and onto his feet. Uruha didn’t waste anymore time and wrapped a kimono around the other. He didn’t have the time to do it properly now, but it would have to do and it was the only kind of clothing that he could get a half sleeping Reita into.
Reita cracked an eye open and looked at Ruki who was standing at the other side of the room near the door.
“You’re dead,“ he remarked, not sounding particularly surprised at the other’s presence.
“Not anymore.“

The sun was just about to rise when the boys had reached the other side of the woods; they were close to the village and the train station now.
Uruha still hadn’t explained anything to Reita. He hadn’t even looked at him much. All he really knew was that they were going through with Uruha’s plan of running away and it was just as good to him as staying. No, it was better .
With every step they had taken away from the school Reita had felt more like himself. He was slowly waking up from the daze Uruha’s long absence had put him into as well.
“This is it then,“ Ruki announced. “Time to part.“
Uruha nibbled his lip. “Come to Tokyo with us, Ruki-kun. For a while at least.“
Ruki shook his head, smiling. “You’ve done enough for me, Uruha. It’s time to say goodbye.“
He pulled the taller blonde down for a quick kiss before he vanished between the trees once again. Uruha wanted to hold him back, beg him to stay with him, but he couldn’t.
He knew that Ruki wasn’t meant for him and that he wasn’t meant for Ruki.
They were two people who had met by chance and while they had changed each other’s lives there was no point in them staying together.
It is like this sometimes and it hurts every time, but it’s a necessary pain and an important experience.
This didn’t keep Uruha from staring after Ruki although the short blonde was gone. Definitely gone.
“C’mon, Ruru.“ Reita extended a hand for the other to take. “Let’s go home.“
The first rays of light were shining on their backs as they climbed down the steep hill they were standing on.
Once more they were together and this time Reita would make sure that it stayed like this.

Uruha’s head was resting on Reita’s lap, a small smile dancing over his lips. The train’s gentle movements made Uruha feel like he was a baby in a cradle; happy, content and absolutely safe.
Reita on the other hand was still confused. He still hadn’t gotten any information at all. But did this really matter?
Details were all good and well, but all that counted was that Uruha was here now.
He had never seen it as clearly as he did now: people were talking about things they wanted and needed all the time, about money, clothes, toys or cars or even other people.
Ultimately none of this made anyone happy, none of this filled out the void inside of them. He had been one of them, too. He knew now what he needed to be happy, though, what he had always wanted and needed, what he had been looking for without ever knowing how close it was and this something was resting here in his arms.
He closed his eyes and fell asleep with the knowledge that from now on dream and reality would be holding hands in his life.
