I managed to get my schoolbooks I will need for this fall ordered the other day. It still slays me how outrageous the cost is, even on Amazon. But it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the school bookstore, that's for sure

Thankfully the school books I'm purchasing now are all novels, but I will commiserate on the expensiveness in general. Because even though I'm all novels, I still spent about $120, in addition to getting several books from trade credit at a used bookstore. School is expensive!

My son had his debit card copied, and now has found that someone opened a credit card account in his name - it's not connected to the previous thing, but it can happen so easily and quickly. No government employee issues with him, as it looks as if the credit card fraud was done by a former girlfriend. But, yeah, it's a pain when the debit card gets cancelled.

I hope that Craig's stuff gets all straightened out, and that he uses the free credit monitoring and pays attention to it when the bank calls.

And a big hug of sympathy on the costs of the school books! And for the aching back you're going to have. At the genealogy conferences, the rolling carry-on bags are very popular, since people are toting a lot of awkward and somewhat heavy things around. Of course, that's more money, but you might luck out and find one at a thrift store.

I suppose I am fortunate in that the place I can park (provided I get there early enough for a spot) is not too far from the building my classes are in. That's another plus in that all classes are held in the same lab/classroom. So once I make it to the room, I don't have to worry about lugging the books around all day.

I thought about the rolling bookbag last year but opted against it. It rains too much around here and I don't want to have to contend with having to keep it clean and worry with books getting wet if water seeps through the fabric.

Craig got me a bookbag from the PX in Hattiesburg a few years ago. I had been admiring his camouflage backpack that was issued to him through his unit. it was incredibly sturdy, tons of compartments, and lightweight.

He came home one day with the exact same bag, only in purple. *g* I have been using it ever since. And it has held up very well.
