Comments do make a difference...

For the past week or so, I've been debating with myself whether it's worth my time and energy to finish The Academy and the two sequels I have in progress. I don't know whether it was due to my cold or the fact that I'm PMSing (highly emotional). I know that what I've written isn't liked by all and I know that I'm not a perfect writer and that's ( Read more... )

I know, it doesn't have to be long or full of praise, heck even a simple "I read it." would be fine with me.

Exactly.

And what I wrote is also meant to remind me that I also need to leave comments. I don't always do it. *slaps hands*

I try very hard to but I know that there are stories that slip through, mostly at FF.nt.

I need to get into the habit of replying after I read and not trust my memory to remind me to go back later. ;)

I don't go to ff.nt anymore. I probably should though, I'm sure there's some good fic there.

Oh gods, yes! Having someone tell you how much they're loving your story - esp if it's a long (epic) one, really does make a difference!

And I've been terrible lately about leaving comments, especially with your stories and for that I apologize.

So, may I say that...

I LOVE YOUR STORIES!!!!!

Aw, thanks... I wasn't fishing - just making an observation!

*hugs*

To be honest, I don't much care what other people will think as I write a story - if I'm enjoying writing it, that's all that matters. Other people enjoying it is a bonus! I write for myself, first and foremost...

I know you weren't, but I just wanted to let you know that I do read your work and enjoy it a lot. Especially the pr0n :D

You know, I'm beginning to learn to adopt that way of thinking. ;)

I completely agree with you! Having someone read and review your work is vital to a writer. It spurs you to write more and more to feed the reader's interest.

Just so you know, sweets, I hope that you continue The Academy and I'm looking forward to the sequals you have in the works. Your writing is totally AWESOME and I LOVE the story!!!!

And I still need to read your stories.

But, thank you. Your comments mean a lot to me.

Oi, I totally agree with you. Nothing is worse than the feeling like everyone is looking the other way when you put yourself out in public like that.

*runs off to finish stylesheet so she can read*

Of course, I really can't complain about lack of comments/reviews much, mostly because I really haven't been reading that much fan fiction here lately...

The thing I wanted to avoid when writing this post was that I sounded like I was complaining about the lack of comments to my story, because that's not my intent. I'm happy to get feedback whether it's one or twenty comments. In all honesty, there are times when I forget to leave feedback myself.

And I'm not saying that that's what your saying...*reads* I really hope that made sense. :)

But...what was my point in all this?

Yeah, show writers some love. You just might brighten their day. :D

Yeah, that's my point.

LOL! Most of what I was trying to say is that I sympathize with your original sentiment. It's disheartening when you put your blood, sweat, and tears into a piece and then no one lets you know what they thought or even if they read it. Honestly, I'd rather have someone rake me over the coals to my face than end up reading about it on fanficrants. =D So, yeah, I understand what you're saying. =)

*wipes brow*

I was starting to question myself if I was making any sense. ;)

I've seen people make posts like this in other fandoms and then they accused of being an attention seeker, a cry baby, etc. Really sad when the real reason for posts gets lost in translation.

fanficrants? I think I'll play ignorant on that one and pretend I never heard of it. ;)

And, fun fact: if you don't finish the fic... I WILL drive down there and throttle you.

You think I'm kidding... *shakes head*
