Anybody read fanficrants? This recent rant was about House/Stargate crossovers! What do you think? Have you seen any fic that would match the ranter's complaint? Because I can't recall any.
As I wrote on the post, I think (unless she's read fics I haven't) the ranter is not thinking through the whole issue. House has a deeper understanding of medicine, anatomy, and biology than simply selecting Disease A vs. Parasite B.
I just tried to comment with the following but I can't because I'm not a ffr member. If anyone wants to copy and paste for me, that'd be fine. Otherwise, allow me to preach to the choir.
From what I understand, diagnostics is not just about fitting symptoms to known diseases, but can also involve identifying new diseases. The National Institutes of Health has a whole program dedicated to diagnosing rare diseases, more common diseases with unusual presentations, and also diseases that haven't been seen before. I don't see why House wouldn't be able to do the same, be it Earth- or Pegasus-generated, so long as, as deelaundry points out, the story is written believably.
