Carter-O'Neill wedding

A year ago, Sam couldn't have imagined a day like this. A year ago, Sam was living alone in an alternate timeline; the Jack O'Neill she knew was dead and the one in that world thought she was a half-crazy pile of paperwork. A year ago, Sam was stuck in a world where she knew no one and had been barred from working in any of her fields of expertise.

And now, she and Jack were getting married. She wasn't back in her own world, but this one was much better than the one she'd been stuck in.

It hit her, once she'd come downstairs with Vala to see their small circle of friends gathered there, with Jack, at the far end of the room in his dress uniform, waiting with Daniel, that she was actually getting married. She hadn't chickened out, hadn't changed her mind, and it was actually happening.

And Jack was on his best behavior, too--at least until it came time for the vows. They'd sort of written their own, and they went off without a hitch except Jack making some mention in his vows about how he'd loved her even when her reproductive organs got confused about insides and outsides and wandered off topic before wandering back to the subject of wedding cake, which had almost been harder to keep him out of than the wedding dress. Sam wanted to both strangle him and kiss him, a problem which was solved as soon as Jim said "kiss the bride": Jack dipped her and kissed her a lot deeper than the polite peck she'd been expecting, then clapped his hands and announced it was time for cake.

There was cake afterward, as well as other light refreshments, and Sam managed to get Jack away from the cake long enough to say hello to everyone who had come to help them celebrate their wedding.
