Well, there's Robin Hood and... [Quick, Derek, think of a 'good' pirate...no, not Jack...Jack is not a good example...well, okay, maybe he is. Sort of.]

...sometimes, you end up on the wrong side of the law for the right reasons. Depends, I think, on what happens to your victims as to the scale of villainy.

[ ... nope. He was just there because he was greedy. Oops! Considers this quietly for a moment. ]

So basically, it's only okay if you're like a hero out of a storybook. Steal from the rich, give to the poor, make all the orphan children happy, right? Man. Who actually lives up to those standards?

Or at least someone who will only take what they're after and not spend too much time on the bloodshed and killing of innocents.

...And you'd be surprised.

Whoa, hey, wait a second! Stealing is one thing, but "bloodshed" and "killing of innocents"? That doesn't seem like part of the job description. [ A little disturbed. Still, he carries on. ] That so? Prove it.

Why do you have to be a villain?

Hey, who said anything about being a villain? I sure didn't.

Yes you did, dumbass.

Villainy isn't anything to be goddamn proud of.

I did not! I said I was an ex-villain. I'm reformed now! Believe me, I know. Villainy? Right out. So not okay.

Heh, pirates or thieves, both of 'em end up in the stocks at the end of the day. Punishment for both's kinda the same where I'm from, too.

You lookin' to go on the straight n' narrow or just lookin' for something to do though?

[ ... ]

You know the part where I said ex-thief? Yeah, I'm on the straight and narrow, buddy. Just bored, looking for things to do, maybe a few opinions... is that so wrong?

Haha, guess not. Why not take up talkin' to the spirits or something? They can be kinda fun.

As long as they don't try to set you on fire.

[There is a man with you in the bakery. Chewing down donuts. He can't help but to hear your questions to the masses.]

Really? A frying pan?

[Don't doubt Vash and his power of unique conversations.]

You know, I never really thought of it like that before! I mean, I wouldn't want to get hit by one! They hurt!

[ ..... (yay) ]

Now that's a smart man! Finally, someone who sees the value in a cast iron frying pan! You bet that'll hurt! I should know.

...Do we have to choose?

[ oh boy. buffy should have just never opened her mouth on this one. she has a gut response that she can't quite deny now but -- but it doesn't mean she has to own up to it all willy-nilly. ]

Hey, I'm not forcing you to do anything. Buuuuut a lack of an answer might come across as suspicious, you know what I mean? Just saying, of course, absolutely no obligation or anything.

Oh, you know, it might just maybe indicate that you'd maybe already chosen and didn't want to say anything.... not that I'm one to presume or anything. The choice is all yours. Don't let me interfere! It was, after all ... just an honest question. [ A grin. ]
