Okay, so I'm torn.

When I first saw the Superman Returns trailer, I was kind of excited. Even though I really didn't like their choice of actor for our favorite primary-clad hero, the trailer made it look like they were going to go into a lot of backstory (and I am a *sucker* for backstory), and they had Anthony Hopkins as not-evil!Jor-El. I've heard nothing about the movie, but I saw the ad when I was in the theatre the other day and all I could think was, "Whoa. Craptacular animation, much?"

Still, I was brightened by the fact that the new Clark Kent, at least in the brief scene I saw, looked uncannily like Christopher Reeves (who I adored in the role - Dean Cain never did much for me) and how much Kevin Spacey really reminded me of Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor (though I agree that Michael Rosenbaum is Lex). I loved Superman and Superman II (and while I can't really get into the next two very seriously, I do appreciate their camp) so I figure, at least on my part, I'll probably not be too disappointed if they are quoting those films cinematically.
