Instead of the usual PA system announcement everyone has come to know and expect, today you'll be receiving an unsolicited video message on your Guide!
The video clicks on and the following scene plays out:
[On a simple hand puppet stage, two identical hand puppets who bear a striking resemblance to Charlie Chaplain can be seen. Cheerful, tinkly piano music is playing in the background. For several moments they are perfectly still, almost as though they are unaware that the camera is rolling. Before the pause can become too awkward, one puppet begins to wiggle up and down.
Once this action is complete, the feed cuts to what appears to be a notecard, on which some words are printed:]
[And back to the hand puppets. The one that wiggled previously is swaying gently, its piece apparently finished, and the second one that was still up until now begins to bounce gently up and down. A moment later, the feed cuts to a different note card:]
[And returning to the puppets once again - this time the first begins bobbing up and down while the second stands quietly to one side, and another cut to a third note card:]
[Feed Ends]
OOC INFO:
Welcome to the July Improbability Drive Event, folks!
Here's how it works:
×Affected characters will find that they are suddenly and mysteriously unable to see color. The world around them is now viewable only in shades of grey.
× Additionally, there is a constant, quiet stream of jolly piano music playing from somewhere, and it changes from time to time to match your character's actions. Walking along a corridor results in a cheerful, light-hearted sound. Arguing silently with anyone will produce angry, agitated music. Sex will, of course, be totally censored you perverts be accompanied by extremely cheesy, obnoxious porno music. These are just examples, of course. Feel free to come up with your own!
× In the tradition of the silent film, all affected characters are now mute. They can shout until they're blue in the face, but no sound will emerge from their throats. Instead, a text block with a fancy border will appear above the speaking character's head, and whatever it is they're saying will be written out in fancy cursive handwriting that auto-translates into whatever language the reader understands.
What does this mean for people who don't read well? Either they'd better step up their game or they're SOL. Be creative!
×Wardrobe change! We're going to leave this up to the individual player to determine, of course, but do expect to see quite an abundance of 1920s style fashions cropping up!
×As always, if you want to opt out of this event, please don't hesitate to do so! The reactions of unaffected characters can be just as hilarious as the reactions of affected ones.
MISCELLANY:
We just want to give everyone a huge thank you for being so patient with us this weekend. We've finally managed to get through all the applications (as you may have noticed). We're sorry we ended up posting the event a day late. If there's enough interest, we can extend it for a day to make up for lost time on Monday.
Rooms and the Taken List should be updated shortly. ♥
