I spent the last week looking for Lirin because I hadn't seen her in a while. She wasn't in her room so I went and filled out a mountain of paperwork just to see the passenger manifest. She's not on it and the crewman who told said something about wormholes

Essentially, a wormhole is meant to link two points of space and time. Sort of like a shortcut between them, if you will. They're not meant to be quite as common or quick to appear as they seem to do here, though, which makes me wonder if we're dealing with something else entirely.
