Yes! I wrote it with my hometown in mind. -Well, it's not exactly my hometown... but that's where I lived and made all of my friends.

Then you might want to try to explain terms like 'rainbow drinker' and stuff for the readers.

In human culture, their equivalent would be... vampires, I think? I'm not a hundred percent sure on that, though.

I don't really know much about vampires, but the basics are that they suck people's blood and turn them into vampires too.

I don't think you have to switch to human terms for stuff, necessarily. Just explain things we wouldn't know.
