[Click. On comes the video, activated by a stray hand as the Guide is placed on the ground nearby. There is a large toad (the orange one Naruto is standing on) fast asleep near the dolphin pool. Leaning against his back is Naruto. He seems completely relaxed, the look of someone whose mind has recently been put at ease. There's a grin on his face ( Read more... )

Yeah, that's why it won't happen 'til everyone understands one another. Then they'll realize when they hurt someone else and they'll try not to do that.

[strolls on over and leeeans down into your greasy face, blockin' ur fake suns]

You don't think peace is a bit over rated? If everything was peaceful, there wouldn't be any use for people like you.

[cuz y'know, ninjas need to fight shit]

I'd be okay with that.

Yeah, but there's guys who don't always have the best methods for getting peace too. One person's idea of getting a perfect world might mean killing and destruction for everyone else.

...it's kinda a nice idea to latch onto, but there's some people who're just too bonkers to reason with.

I met a guy like that. He's here on the ship too actually.

I know there's a lotta people that can't be changed with words alone. That's why the rest of us have to be strong enough to keep them from hurting everyone.

...wait, seriously? Guess he's probably going to go stir crazy now that there's technically no world for him to try to straighten out.

Like 'punching them in the face if they get out of line' strong? Because I can definitely be all over that.

Nah, not really. He's changed now.

Heh, I'm all for punchin' them in the face, that's for sure. I do it a lot it seems.

Asking all of sentient creation to come together on a single idea is a tall order, especially when they're as varied and unpredictable as humans. Speaking as someone familiar in theory with an assortment of negative aspects, that sounds impossible unless you intend to exterminate those who would get in the way of that.

But I'll admit that's only in theory, and that my working knowledge of overall society is very limited and narrow. And as someone who approves of challenge, that idea isn't entirely unappealing. I don't really care about the idea itself, since it has little to do with anything I want in any way, though.

Sorry if I carried on a little, but that's what I think.

[... There's a whole lot of big words in all of that, but:]

People are unpredictable. Heh, they call me 'Konoha's number one unpredictable ninja' back home, so I know what you mean.

But I still think peace is attainable, and I think we can get there if everybody works together like this.

[She really needs to learn to think in smaller words, doesn't she.]

It's one of our better-yet-more-troublesome traits, really.

But I can think of one person, though deceased, who would probably disagree. How would you handle someone like that were another to come up?

You mean someone who doesn't believe in peace?

Heh. It's a simple thing to say, isn't it?

But I believe it's possible more now than ever.

I agree. In a way, we are all able to share in the things that connect us more clearly here.
