That's an interesting question, and I'm not sure how to answer.

There were several continents, with various countries and governments, and almost as many religions.

Many religions? So people didn't follow just one?

Not at all. Sometimes the followers of various religions were able to co-exist, but other times there were wars fought over conflicting beliefs.

The tension between countries and the possibility of war. I, and many others, faced this thin line between the two almost daily. It's nothing new.
