Agreed! What never ceases to amaze me is when *women* support asshats like Romney. I guess they feel 1) "only those who deserve it get crapped on." and/or 2) "I can buy my way out of said problems." _sigh_

I think you nailed it - it's a combo of magical thinking ("I'm rich and educated and Christian [and white] - I'll never need an abortion and my DAUGHTER sure as hell will never need birth control, so it's okay if they restrict it") with the sure knowledge that they can afford to cover up for their little Ashleigh (She's on a skiing vacation in Switzerland") for a few days if Something Happens. Ashleigh made a 'mistake' - the black single mom who cleans one of your summer homes is a Slut.
And for a lot of women raised a certain way, it's comforting to have someone else take care of you and pay your bills and do the thinking for you - you know, the way Real Women should behave, not like their brash, unladylike housekeepers and manicurists who are poor single moms raising their kids. ("Who cares about equal pay when I can just blow my husband to get a 'raise' in my housekeeping money, tee hee?")
