You need to join that species iris group of North America. I bet you'd do well with Siberian iris seed!

Iris are fairly easy to grow from seed. The main thing is to make sure the iris seed gets enough cold time because it won't germinate till it does.
The nice thing about the species iris is that it blooms at a different time than the common garden iris does so you get a longer bloom time out in the garden.
Siberians are "tough as nails" garden plants.

Ooooh!
Maybe! I have a buttload of seeds already.
I think my bf would kill me if I bought more.
I want to start my soapwort now..but I dont think my green house is suitable.
It's a vinyl one and I only have one bulb over one shelf.

Ohhh, nice!! I just dumped all my oriental lily seeds together. This is only the second year I've collected seeds and there were more pollinated ones than unpollinated compared to last years, but I still have a bunch of 'empty' flake-like seeds. I figure I'll just plant them next yr along with the 'full' ones cuz I'm too lazy to separate them out ;)

What are you doing to winterize them? I've never done anything special for them before, so I'll be curious to hear what you're doing.

I've never grown lilies before, so I am going to Google what to do.
I dont even know if I am supposed to pull the dead stems, cut them, etc.
I am thinking I am going to dig one up carefully and see how much the bulb divided.
It was my first year making seeds, so I am happy one out of 4 survived and produced what it did.

Mine are in one corner of my flower garden.
I kind of wanted to balance it out with some on the other side.
I still dont know if I want another type, or put the bulbs there. Probably another type so I could play Mad Mater again :D
