*celebrates* YAY LILIES

Nov 08, 2010 16:19

I took the seed pod off it's drying wall and present to you, the seeds.
I have a bowl of about 100.
I grabbed a light, tweezers, an extra bowl for the duds, and a small spice shaker to hold the viable ones.
I spent about an hour, holding each one up and checking for an embryo. Rule of thumb is if they're "puffy", they have one -but some did not.
I filled the shaker about 1/4 full, approximately 70-80 seeds.
OOoo! It was so much fun, I might have to do it again next year.
Now, to read up on wintering my lilies etc.
I started yard clean up today..but soon gave up -cold and windy.
