I'm such a gardening nerd, that in my dream last night, I checked on my corn seeds and was really, really excited that they were coming up!! (Alas, I checked the actual garden this morning, and they're not.  Boo

oh, I wish my figs were starting to get brown and turning soft, they are still so small and winter is so close, sigh. They should be brown and soft, and smell like a fig.

Thanks for that! Mine are still pretty small, but maybe that's because it's just a baby tree. It's pretty early for them to be ripening, though... but I checked their smell and they don't smell that figgy yet, so there's probably a while to go.

Don't pick your figs too early. They don't ripen after they've been picked, so you'll just have something that tastes woody. Wait till the fig is about as hard as your biceps (unless they are as flabby as mine). The softer they are, they sweeter they'll be.
