What to grow after tulip season

I would wait until next year and then see what you think would look good there, taking all the conditions like soil and sun and space into account. I don't know of any bulbs that bloom much past May or June. So you're going to be having to shop for annuals or perennials to be planted next year.

I don't have a lot of specific recommendations, I'll just throw out some flowering plants I am rather partial to:
Iris
cleomes
peonies
california poppies
nasturtium
sunflowers
phlox (creeping and otherwise)
golden moneywort (lovely spreading groundcover
canna lilies
tithonia (Mexican sunflower, tall variety, not dwarf)

I've had terrible luck with forsythia personally. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong with it but it doesn't flower much for me and it puts out lone flowers at odd times of the year.

Oh and I did think of another bulb to consider, giant alliums are quite lovely and come back year after year :)
