I've always wanted to go to Galapagos (and Ecuador) specifically because it's one thing for people to transplant the choice ornamental plants to different places but something totally different to really be in the middle of intact (well kinda) ecosystems.

Alhambra and the court of the lions look totally awesome.

Of course, I've always wanted to see the poison garden at Alnwick.

Right now I'm trying to talk him into a Granada & Seville holiday package so I can visit the Alhambra and Generalife. I've just almost convinced him...

Poison garden - good call!

I visited Spain last fall. The Generalife gardens at the Alhambra were nice (pic), but I wouldn't say spectacular. The Alhambra itself was spectacular, though, so I recommend the trip. If you go to Seville, I suggest you tour the Alcazar palace. The gardens are really nice.(pic)

Other plants or places I've enjoyed were the giant redwoods in California (pic), and when I did some hiking in the canyons outside of Tucson. I loved seeing the cacti, and other desert vegetation ( pic).

That first pic I linked is the Patio de la Acequia, in the Generalife, and it is beautiful. :-) There are some really nice areas there. Maybe my memories were a little overshadowed by the palaces themselves.

We skipped some of the gardens because it was cold and rainy in the morning, but it was gorgeous in the afternoon. It took a few minutes for some of the memories to come back. Take a look:

Feel free to click on the "Spain" tag, and see more, including the Alcazar (the very previous post).

I'm not a big architecture fan but Spain's probably the place to learn to love it

Monet's Garden in Giverny, France. OMG, I still have pictures from when I went and I look back on them occasionally cause that place was gorgeous! I really want to go back to France someday and visit there again. :) I thought this was much more beautiful than the gardens in Versailles.

I think cool colours and soft textures like that beat formal gardens every time :)
