I'll have to see what I have left over. I'm all for helping prisoners gain skills for a lawful career after they are released. Plus (practical side here), the more food they grow themselves, the less the tax payers have to pay for it! :)
If the occasional fresh tomato inspires some of them to join the horticulture program ... yeehah! Hooray for hobbies and nutrition!
Might I suggest you call your county extension office, especially if they have a Master Gardeners program. Many of the people there will do their own seed starts, and as we all know you start 12 if you want 6, so maybe some of them might have seeds or seedlings they'd be willing to donate. You may also find some inspired to volunteer or donate other unused stuff.
having a general idea of what you want would be great. i'm always up to buying seeds and stuff. just last night i was thinking of trying to catch the store that sells walls before they inevitably toss their extra seeds and see if they'd hand them over to me so i could donate them.
Pretty much anything! They'd like to try as many different things as they can, to learn about different plants. NOTE: this is central SC, so need mainly things that can survive *heat*!!
Oh yeah, I have mostly greens (lettuces, chard, etc.) and perhaps a few flowers. These are from last year, but have been well stored, so germination rate should be ok.
