Donate seeds?
Some of you may not like this request, but I'm hoping there will be others who do. I apologize to the rest.
I volunteer in a state prison, in a state that has cut almost all rehabilitative programs. They budgeted $200 for the horticulture program, just enough to buy some fertilizer and compost (gardens are big!) I think growing plants is a really good thing for prisoners to do, and also maybe gives them a skill that they can use when they get out, making it less likely that they'll commit more crimes.
Unfortunately, there's not enough money for seeds. I know I often have left-over seeds, and I'm thinking that maybe some of you do, too. If you'd be willing to mail me any leftover seeds (or new seed packets that you decided not to use, etc), I'll collect them and take them out to the project.

ETA: We are in Zone 8, in a part of the US that gets very hot and humid, but has a fairly long growing season (for example, last year my Sungold tomatoes started producing in early June and still had fruit in late September). All kinds of seeds are welcome--vegetables, ornamentals, wildflowers, herbs, etc. Greens of all kinds and peas are good now, and later in the spring melons, tomatoes, okra, beans of any kind, squash of all kinds, peppers of all kinds, any kind of flowers, basil, parsley, etc. would be good. Eggplant does really well here, but don't know how many of them eat it. They have a sort of plastic greenhouse thing where they can start the seeds early, so probably by mid-March they can start most stuff to put out in mid-April. The greens and peas can go in now.
