are your watering tubes just pvc pipes stuck down in the bottom of the bucket?

Yep. They are part of the self-watering container set up I love so much. I can already tell it'll come in handy this summer.

Wow, this is awesome. How long did something like this take you? I live in central Florida, so the while we have amazing weather and sunshine, watering is never-ending.

I'm in north central Florida (Gainesville) so I hear ya about the watering. As far as time, once I had all the supplies assembled and my drill was charged, it only takes a minute to drill the small holes. I have to cut out the center portion for the cup with a knife so I take longer to make sure I don't cut my hand off, but even that only takes maybe five minutes. I put together four containers in about a half hour the last time I did some.
