Moderating is a tough, hair-pulling job sometimes(and I know from experience), so Thank You!

Hi Kelly. Good to meet you.

May I request a change to the photo posting rule? It is stated that the reason for the limit is because some viewers have low bandwidth. If we're trying to protect them, I suggest that a better rule would be to limit the size (in kilobytes) rather than number. One picture of 350 kB would be worse than 3 pictures of 16 kB each. Unfortunately, at the moment, the former is allowed, while teh latter is not. Beyond that, have a size limit (in pixels) would be nice to prevent sidescroll on our friends page.

I ask that the community (or its mod/s) consider changing rule number 1 to the following:

No single picture outside an lj-cut may exceed 640 pixels in width or height. All photos outside of an lj-cut must total less than 200 kilobytes.

Another suggestion would be to limit the number of photos, but as long as the total file size is less than 200 (or whatever amount you choose), I think 3 or 4 would be reasonable.

I second this idea! I'm thinking specifically of the (quite small) fantastic comparison pictures that one of our members has been doing, and the amount of flaming she got because she's not technically following a community rule. While they are technically two pictures, they're much smaller than the average (fairly large) single pictures that get posted here. She's going to have to photoshop them together to get the rules sticklers off her back, which seems a little silly, as they don't strain bandwidth at all!

Last but not least, thank you so much scratchtest for creating and managing what is probably one of the best communities I've ever been in. It's interesting, informative and has always been quite friendly! My mother, a longtime gardener, is thinking of joining LJ, and this is one of the first places I plan to point her :)

What about the fact she isn't taking all the pictures in the comparison pictures? Copyright and such.

THAT was my biggest concern hohaiyee August 31 2008, 14:21:01 UTC
I'm usually against DOMA, it's f**k up in a multitudes of way, but I think copyright, courtesy to the...originator, must be considered. Respected absolutely where the artist had drawn the image, and it has never been commercially mass produced. In the anime communities I've modded, claiming somebody else's fanart, that's a permibanning! Posting up art from a site that told you NOT TO DO IT, in English no less, yelling, and probably banning ( ... )
