Favorite tart apples?
My Granny Smith didn't survive last fall's deer attack, so I'm looking to replace it. I could get another Granny Smith, but the local nursery is sold out. If I'm ordering online anyway, my options are a lot more open, so I thought I'd see if there are other varieties I should consider. I'm in zone 5 (Iowa). I'd like to use it for pies &/or eating out of hand (my son & husband like tart apples).
ETA: I have plenty of space, so I don't have to limit myself to one choice.
