So much fun! The food all looks so delicious. And the park is so beautiful omg. It's a shame it's fallen somewhat into disrepair and isn't as popular anymore but it's still beautiful; I can only imagine how gorgeous it must have been in its heyday. Taking updated photos of yourself in childhood spots is so fun. Did you show your mother?

I discovered sunflower seeds on salad a while ago at a salad bar. It seemed like such an odd idea but I'm a total convert now. Yum.

I had such a surprise when I opened this up and saw the new design for your LJ! It looks awesome. :)

When I was looking for a secluded bench to sit and eat my dinner, I found two benches that were really hidden away. Part of that was because you had to push through bushes that had completely covered the path, and on one occasion, half of the bench as well. Probably the fact that you have to pay to get in now probably doesn't help the park's popularity. I'm sure we never had to pay when we lived there; we used to go pretty much every weekend so we would never have gone that often if we had to pay. Of course I showed my mother. I took lots of photos of all the things I remembered purposely to show her.

I read an article recently on how to make a good salad and that suggested putting seeds on top. It wasn't something that would ever have occurred to me before then but at least when I saw it on the dean & david menu, it wasn't a total surprise.

I did it on Friday but didn't post about it until today because I didn't think anyone would see the post otherwise.

I like parks anyway, there's such scope for photos in them. Especially in ones like this which are not only huge but have specific areas with different themes, it's like having lots of little parks all in one!

'Mingos! ^_^ Flamingos are best. <3 I loved Germany when I visited Munich back in 2002, I'd love to go back. :)

I've never been to München though I hear it's nice. It's quite a bit bigger than Dortmund though. What made you go there, was it just a holiday?

I went as part of a school trip with the art department to look at galleries and explore the city, it was beautiful. :)

Are there many art galleries in München? It doesn't seem to have quite the artistic connection unlike Paris or half the Italian cities.

Pity the park isn't as well cared for as it was, it looks pretty impressive and that tower is pretty eye catching, reminds me a bit of the tall thing in the middle of Berlin near the zoopark (which may be a tower or just a monument, I never did find out..). So is the restaurant still there? Those used to be a bit of a "thing", didn't they? Usually expensive but rather a cool way to spend a meal, gazing out over the city as you revolve.. :)

I was surprised by how neglected it looked and also how quiet it was. It was always really full and popular when we lived there but I guess times change ( ... )

I googled "berlin tower thing" and you're right its a tv tower, tallest structure in Germany apperntly and fitted with what is clearly the ubiquitous restaurant (now revolving at twice the speed from when it was originally built - the things you learn from wiki...!). Its the only tv tower I ever noticed so thanks for the tip on not navigating by such thigns, well, outside of Berlin at least! :)

I'm old school and still think a revolving restaurant is a nifty thing *g*

They made the restaurant twice as fast?? That just seems like it's begging for trouble. I get travel sick on trains, I'd hate to get travel sick in a restaurant.

Ah, Westfalenpark, the flamingos and chocolate covered grapes on a stick :) I remember the fountains and the stage in the lake as well.

No grapes on a stick this time, or those gingerbread hearts that all the kids used to wear round their necks, because everything was shut. You can get both of those at the Christmas markets in Manchester though ;)
