All you need is Illustrator

I mentioned the other week that I was going to redo the psychedelic John Lennon drawing that I did several years ago. I thought it would look really good redone in Illustrator, it would have nice sharp lines and bright colours then. The original drawing isn't too bad but it could do to be bolder I think. Mind you, it probably doesn't help that ( Read more... )

I found a photo of a dove and of John Lennon's guitar so I could trace the outlines and get the colours right. That's why they look much better :)

Looks outstanding! I love the heart and the new dove and the guitar. And yay for including the middle of the rainbow! ;)

I'm surprised with how well the heart came out, it looks so effective and yet it's such a simple design. I didn't even really think about it either, it's just how it came out!

I love the light/shade effect of the pattern on his top in the original, the digital is going to look awesome when you're done though.

I've just about finished the figure in the digital version and I think I've managed to replicate the fades and tones of the original. I'll upload it in the next few days so you can see. I'm pretty pleased with how it's progressing and I've only needed to check for instructions on two minor things because I just couldn't remember how to do them.

That is brilliant, should put in on a t-shirt when you're done, I love it :)

I wouldn't have thought of putting it on a T-shirt. Would it not be a bit too busy for that?

Nope, ideal I'd think. Isn't it cafepress or something that lets you put your own images on tshirts and mugs and bags etc? That'd make a great mug too come to think..

Yes, I think cafepress do that. I know deviantArt do prints and things like mouse pads and mugs but I don't think they do t-shirts which is a shame.
