FMP: The Print Edition

I took my book to the printers this morning. I'm really excited to see the finished result but at the same time completely paranoid that there's going to be a problem with it. Several weeks ago, N gave me back the first piece of work I did on this course and said that the only problem with it was the text didn't stand out from the background so it ( Read more... )

N is such a dick. On all the stuffs you showed me, I didn't see any problem with the contrast between the text and the background and had no trouble reading it. I think it'll be totally fine, although I'm sure he'll criticise it anyway.

Feh to the bloke being no help but it sounds like you made the better choice in terms of paper. It's a shame to not have the glossy but I agree that having it stand up is the priority.

Yay, can't wait for the squee post!! :)

I really don't understand what his problem is. No one else had said anything about having a problem with my text being illegible on any other work I've handed in. When I did the first brief, N didn't say anything at the time about there being a problem with the text. He can't really comment on the book as he's not going to be around to see it! Well, not unless he comes in specially to look at the end of year show and I don't know how likely that is.

I was rather annoyed that the bloke wasn't more helpful. I thought he'd know about that sort of stuff and have some idea as to what would be best. My concern with the glossy was it being too shiny and making it hard to read the text because of light glare. Better to be on the safe side there.

I'm glad N won't be around to see it! He's got a bee up his arse and should keep his weird criticisms to himself. Maybe he's overly critical cos some part of him knows that you and your classmates are more marketable as graphic designers today than he is, stuck as he is in the old ways of doing things while you're all getting more and more proficient with Photoshop and Illustrator and so on.

It is annoying that the bloke wasn't more helpful but I think you definitely made the right choice! The book looks amazing. :)
