Pottermore Potions

I've got back into Pottermore again recently. Although I'm really busy with my FMP, it's actually been ideal because there's no time limit to it so I can dip in as and when and do things at my own pace. It's been a good way to get a 10-15 minute break with a coffee mid-morning or mid-afternoon.

That is until things like this happen:

Yay for Polyjuice Potion! It's good to make it challenging so it's true to the book but that really does sound a bit too fiddly and waiting-intensive given that it's supposed to be kid-friendly. Plenty of adults won't have that kind of patience either!

It only takes a glitch for the whole thing to be ruined, like the other day when I was making Swelling Solution. That was an easy potion too and it still took me over a dozen attempts to do it because there was a software glitch. On one attempt, after the brew time, I had to add one bat spleen but it didn't recognise that I was adding any at all. I think I put about a dozen in and it didn't see any of them so that was that whole potion ruined and I had to redo it.

Oh god, that's the most annoying thing. Glitches drive me mad. I'm glad you got it to work for you in the end but over a dozen attempts?! That must have been the most frustrating thing ever. Feh. And that's an easy potion too! I hope there aren't any glitches like that with the more fiddly ones!

Haven't been back on Pottermore since they released the other books actually. I should have another nose at some point

You should! There's currently all of PS and CoS but only the first seven chapters of PoA. I think there might be more coming up soon though, there's teasers currently going on. What house did you get sorted into?

Well, maybe it's a good thing to teach them a bit of patience and planning. And with all the Facebook games they're probably already playing, they know how to wait until the next day to be able to keep playing/do the next step/whatever. ;)

For Facebook you're supposed to be over 13 but for Pottermore there's no age requirement at all, so there could be quite young children on it. I can't see a 8 or 9 year old having that kind of patience :-/ I was getting at the end of my tether last week when I was trying to brew a really easy potion and a software glitch meant it failed every single time. It took me 3 days and over a dozen attempts before I got it sorted.
