Every Monday, I get an email from Statcounter with the previous week's visitor stats for my website. Usually the unique visitor count is between 650-750. I was incredibly surprised when I looked the email this morning to see that last week's stats totalled 1,059! I assume a link to my site was posted somewhere and checking the breakdown of each ( Read more... )

Hee, these made me laugh. You get much better search terms than I do! Most of my recent ones are 'transgender ftm', 'top surgery', 'transgender resources', etc. which is no fun at all. I do have a few amusing and/or wtf-y ones though:

  • spaceship top surgery ftm - I really want to know what this was about
  • Arkansas - I just ... I have no idea what is going on here
  • madeline ftm top surgery - Who's Madeline??
  • what's a faggot? - do people really not know this?
Sounds like you and I get about the same amount of traffic these days which is nifty. I love being able to look at the stats and see how many people are going to particular pages and really get a sense of how the site is being used. Although it is annoying not being able to see what caused that spike on Tuesday. (Maybe people were doing a lot more Googling with LJ being down and found your site that way.) That is v cool that your Trans 101 page is getting popular. Knowing that folks are coming to your site and learning stuffs, especially the 101-type stuffs that so many people need, is ( ... )

I'm glad that I'm getting a decent amount of traffic now. I was getting about that much when my site was up on nbtsc but I've had to build it back up again from nothing seeing as I didn't even get the chance to leave a forwarding address.

For some reason I've not had the stats for the main site today but did you notice if they were higher than usual? I'm guessing they weren't and that the main reason for the Tuesday spike was a link to the stp page.

*nodnod* Definitely. It sucks so much that you had to start from scratch like that. I'm still pretty irritated about that whole thing. I'm so glad your traffic is back up to where it was though.

I just had a look to double-check and last Tuesday doesn't have any spike for the main page that I can see. It only had 17 pageloads that day, which is maybe a little high but not a big spike. Actually Thursday's was higher, with 19 pageloads. It was probably a link to your STP page, you're right.

I really like your site. You answered a lot of questions I'd had but were too shy to ask and not feel like I was intruding.

I'm glad you've found it helpful, it's good to know that it's working. I'm actually working on expanding the Trans101 section to cover more questions and areas like terminology, Trans history and notable Trans folk so hopefully you'll find that helpful too.

I don't mind answering questions. Perhaps I'll have to do a post where people can ask me about Trans stuff, anonymously if they prefer. Do you think that would be a good idea for people like yourself who have questions but are shy about asking me?

That's a great idea!

I think an anonymous question thingy would be a good idea. I think when it comes to subjects that can be sensitive, some people are worried their questions might seem silly or ignorant, or that they might get shot down for using wrong terminology or something. Of course you might also run the risk of getting trolled/flamed, but that's the Internet in general these days unfortunately, isn't it?
